In this post, I am going to discuss some interesting On-page SEO techniques which are quite essential in the current year 2018. If you are new to SEO and if you don’t understand what is the meaning of optimization then you can read my previous article how to write perfect SEO optimized blog post in WordPress. There are two types of optimizations:
- On-page Optimization
- Off-page Optimization
On- Page Optimization
The optimization which takes place on your site, such as keyword research, title tags, sitemaps, permalinks, etc., you can go through my previous article for basic on-page SEO optimization checklist.
Off- Page Optimization
The optimization which takes place away from your site is known as Off-page optimization. If you share your blog post link on Twitter or Facebook, then it is nothing but off-page optimization.
Is It Necessary To Do On-page Optimization?
Yes, it is necessary to do On-page optimization:
To rank well in search engines in first place.
To avoid Google penalties like a hummingbird and Google Panda. Yes, if you don’t focus on your title tags or your meta tag descriptions it results in duplicate content which Google hates, and it penalizes you with their algorithm.
If you are not focusing on your site, On-page SEO now is the time to start doing it. Here are some proven methods to rank high in the search engines.
Remember, Google SEO ranking factors are the combination of so many things. Google not only considers your keywords and articles but also find your social media activities, number of backlinks pointing to site and domain authority.
Keeping all these things aside always remember content is the king.
Proven On-page Optimization Techniques For Ranking High in 2018
1.RankBrain And Use User Experience Signals
RankBrain, first of all, what is Rankbrain? And how is it a ranking factor according to Google? Well, Rankbrain is a Google algorithm that is used for search engine rankings. This RankBrain was introduced by Google last year, and it is going to be more refined and sharp in this year 2018. So, how does it work?
Let us assume that you are searching for a term called “filter coffee.”
Results popped up, and you have clicked on the very first result.
After going through the blog post or the webpage, you thought that the content was awful.
So, within no time no have logged out of the webpage and came back to your search again.
Here, Google records the time you have stayed on that particular site (apparently you didn’t wait for too long).
Here Google calculates the time spent on the site it is known as Dwell time. The amount of time spent by the visitor is recognized as Dwell time.
If this happens continuously, then Google degrades you from spot #1 to spot #5 or so.
RankBrain works on two factors first one is dwelling time and the second is CTR, i.e., Click through rate. Click through rate is nothing but the number of people clicked on the result.
How to Improve Dwell Time And Click Through Rate CTR
Dwell time is equal to the amount of time spent by a visitor on your site/blog.
Some studies on Searchmetrics stated that the average time spent on top ten google pages is around 3 minutes and ten seconds.
So, always write well-researched and well rounded, and unique content.
Interlink all the relevant posts on your site.
Look professional, and professionally present your content.
Look for broken links and redirect them correctly.
Use related posts widget.
RankBrain And Click Through Rate CTR
Here is the slide gave by Google engineer Paul Haahr at an SEO conference.
Sometimes, a page which should be ranked low will be listed high; if that page gets enough CTR, then it will be a permanent boost in the rankings.
If you are getting enough clicks, there is no reason to get ranked low.
Become A CTR Ninja
Yes, it is the time to find ways to improve your click-through rate to improve your rankings.
Even, if you rank on spot #1 in Google results, you need to scream to get a click on Google searcher.
Google has implemented so many new snippet features like rich snippet cards, Carousels, etc.,
Here is such example, even if you sit on Google’s first result the percentage of clicking is very less 🙁 a bitter truth.
Google ads, yes its also a kind of constraint.

Write In-Depth And Engaging Content
Previous Google bots use to follow the Title tags, keywords and meta descriptions on the page. Where keyword density and Keyword research are the keys.
But nowadays, Google bots are much smarter.
If you stuff your content, title tags and meta descriptions with keywords with lame content, then you are not going to rank well on Google. Take it granted.
Always remember, Google’s job is to give best results possible. Best in a sense the best.
So, Always write unique content with in-depth content with at least 1000-1500 words in length.
Make is visually beautiful.
Use infographics, high-resolution images of course which are optimized with Alt tags and compressed as well.
Use LSI Keywords While Creating Your Content
LSI keywords are nothing but, the keywords which are very carefully related to your chosen topic. There are tools to select these LSI keywords. After selecting LSI keywords just sprinkle them in your article.
Just type the desired keyword and check the Captcha box. You can see the results box.
Google Keyword Planner, is also one of the smartest keyword research tools available for free. Make use of it to the fullest.
